Zipay logo

To get started with ZiPay exchange, you first need to create an account, complete your identity information and add your bank account to the platform. Once your account is ready, it's time to fund it and buy and sell currencies; knowing the order and details of these steps makes your first transaction easier. In this guide, we go step by step through the process from registration to buying and selling currencies on ZiPay.

Going to the Zipay website and starting registration

To get started, enter the address zipay.io in your browser's address bar. The site opens in English first; by selecting the «فارسی» (Persian) option from the menu at the top of the page, you will be taken to the Persian version.

At the top of the Persian page, click the «Login | Sign Up» button to open the user panel page at panel.zipay.io . On this page, a combined login and sign-up form is displayed:

1. Enter your email in the corresponding field.

2. Choose a strong password for your account, including lowercase and uppercase letters and numbers.
3. Click the «Continue» button to go to the next step.

How is identity verification done on the Zipay exchange?

To verify your identity on the Zipay exchange, after logging in to the dashboard, click the phrase «First activate your account» in the pink bar at the top of the page. The «Account Activation» page opens, showing the steps: user information, mobile number registration, number confirmation, identity document upload and activation status.

1. Enter your personal information, including first name, last name, national ID number and date of birth

2. Register your mobile number: Enter your mobile number in the corresponding field. Iran's country code «98+» is shown next to the field. Then click «Get Verification Code».

3. Confirm your number: Enter the six-digit code you received on the next page and click the «Continue» button.

4. Prepare your documents: At the «Upload Identity Documents» step of Zipay identity verification, write the text displayed in your account on a sheet of white paper. This text includes an account verification statement, your account ID and the date, so you must note down the information from that same page.

4. Take a photo and upload: As instructed on the page, place two of your identity documents on the sheet, take a photo of them and upload the image via the «Upload Files» section. The accepted documents in this section are listed as the national ID card, birth certificate, passport and driver's license.

How do you fund your Zipay account?

To buy currency or make a payment, you first need to have enough balance in your account. Topping up your ZiPay account provides this balance so you can use the platform's services according to the amount you need. There are two different ways to do this:

Topping up the Rial wallet in ZiPay

To top up your Rial wallet in ZiPay, just follow these steps:

1. In the dashboard, click the three-dot icon next to «Rial Wallet».
2. From the menu that opens, select «Top Up» to open the «Wallet Top-Up» page.
3. In the wallet selection box, choose «Rial Wallet».
4. Enter the deposit amount in Toman in the «Desired Amount» box.
5. To go to the next step, click «Continue» and complete the process of transferring the full balance.

Your deposit history is shown on the left side of this page; if you haven't topped up your account before, you will see the message «You have not made any deposits yet».

Topping up the Tether wallet in ZiPay

To start, in the dashboard click the three-dot icon next to «Tether Wallet» and select «Top Up» . This feature becomes available to you after you complete the identity verification process. Choose one of the supported networks based on your needs.

When transferring funds to top up your Tether wallet in ZiPay, check the destination address carefully and make sure the network selected at the source is the same as the deposit network at the destination.

Copy the displayed wallet address or scan its QR code, and enter it in the source wallet.

How to buy currency on Zipay exchange

Buying currency on the Zipay exchange is done through the «Convert» section; here you specify the conversion type and the amount to pay, and see the amount of currency you will receive before continuing. To buy Tether with your Toman balance, follow the steps below:

1. On the dashboard, open the three-dot menu next to the wallet and tap «Convert» .
2. From the conversion type list, select «Toman to Tether» . To buy dollars with Toman, the «Toman to Dollar» option is also available in the same list.
3. Enter the purchase amount in Toman in the «You pay» box. Your available balance is shown below this box.
4. Check the conversion rate and the calculated amount of Tether in the «You receive» box.
5. After reviewing the details, and provided you have sufficient balance, tap «Continue» to go to the next step.

For example, by entering a hypothetical amount of 1,000,000 Toman, based on the dollar rate at the time of writing, a conversion rate of 265,300 Toman and a received amount of 3.77 USDT are shown to you.

After the transaction is confirmed, the Tether will be transferred to your Tether wallet on Zipay.

How to sell currency on Zipay exchange

Selling currency on the ZiPay exchange follows the same path as buying and is done through the dollar wallet option in your account dashboard. The difference is that to sell Tether, select the «Tether to Toman» option, and to sell your dollar balance, select the «Dollar to Toman» option. Then enter the amount of currency in the «You pay» box and check the conversion rate and the Toman amount in the «You receive» box. After confirming the details and making sure you have sufficient balance, select «Continue» to go to the next step.

Do not confuse selling currency with a Rial withdrawal; to transfer your Toman balance to a bank account, you must use the withdrawal section of the Rial wallet.

How do Rial withdrawals from Zipay work?

To make a Rial withdrawal from Zipay, check your Toman wallet balance and make sure a bank account in your own name is registered. Tether or dollar balances cannot be withdrawn directly in this section and must first be converted to Toman. The steps for submitting a withdrawal request are shown below:

1. From the «Order» menu at the top of the panel, go to the «Withdrawal» section.
2. In the list of wallets, select «Rial Wallet» .
3. Enter the withdrawal amount in the «Desired Amount» field. Your account's Toman balance is shown below this field.
4. Specify the destination bank account. If you have not registered an account, use the «Add Account +» option.
5. After completing the details and checking the amount and destination account, click «Continue» to go to the next step.

6. Complete the withdrawal order process to the end. The amount will be transferred to your account according to the bank transfer cycle.

Check these 5 points before buying and selling on Zipay

Before your first trade and any buying or selling on Zipay, it's best to get familiar with the rules that affect how the order amount is calculated, how funds are transferred and whether you can keep using your account. The five points below help you check the main terms of the transaction before confirming a buy or sell.

1. Trading price swings is prohibited on Zipay. Clause 32 of the rules prohibits converting between the rial, dollar and Tether wallets to profit from currency fluctuations, and provides for the account to be blocked without prior notice for it.

2. The bank card and account must belong to you. The mobile number and bank card must be in the account holder's name; payments and withdrawals must also be made through your own registered bank account. Using a third party's card will result in the order being cancelled.

3. Know when the buy and sell rates are calculated. Under clause 21 of the rules, the buy rate is calculated at the moment the rial payment is made and the sell rate when the transaction is received and confirmed; the initial price may change.

4. Check the destination address before placing the order. Zipay exchange explicitly places responsibility for a wrong address on the user and rules out cancelling the order or changing the destination address once it has been placed.

5. Match the withdrawal limit to the amount you need. On the Zipay website, the daily rial withdrawal limit for each customer is stated as one billion Toman. Before large trades, also check the limit shown in your panel.

What are Zipay's buy and sell fees?

The public pages of the ZiPay website that were reviewed do not state a specific rate for buy and sell or currency conversion fees. Therefore, no fixed percentage can be confirmed as the trading fee. In its FAQ section, this platform states that «Toman wallet top-ups are free of charge». Also, according to clause 13 of the terms, money transfer fees charged by the banking system are borne by the user. It is recommended that you check the amounts paid and received before confirming a trade and ask support about any possible conversion fees.

Common problems when signing up, funding and trading on Zipay

An incomplete registration or a delay in funding your account doesn't always have the same cause; sometimes the user's information needs to be corrected, and sometimes bank processing or the transfer network has taken longer than usual. The official guides explain the common problems during registration, funding and trading on Zipay and how to fix them as follows:

- Problem logging into an existing account: Each person can only have one account. If you have forgotten your login details, instead of registering again, ask support to help you recover access.

- Documents or bank account not being verified: Copies of identity documents are not accepted, and the bank account holder's name must match the user's information. A disruption in the bank's verification service may also delay account approval.

- Balance not credited after a deposit: Payment must be made from the registered bank account. Also, according to the announced schedule, a card-to-card transfer usually takes less than 20 minutes and a PAYA transfer can sometimes take up to 12 hours to fund the account.

- Bank payment disruptions: If you don't receive the dynamic password, follow it up with your bank. For a failed payment where money was deducted, Zipay has stated a refund period of up to 72 hours; after that, the matter should be followed up with the bank or Shaparak.

- Amount changes or order delays: The final rate may differ from the initial price; the basis for calculation is the moment of the Rial payment when buying, and the time the transaction is received and confirmed when selling. Disruption on the destination network can also delay order execution.
