Kraken exchange was founded in 2011 by Jesse Powell in San Francisco and currently operates as a subsidiary of Payward, Inc. The platform has never been hacked and holds an unblemished security record.

Kraken Exchange Licenses
Kraken is one of the few exchanges that operates with a multi-layered licensing system and is licensed by reputable global regulatory bodies. It is registered in the United States as a Money Services Business with the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) and is overseen by the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority.
Furthermore, in 2020, Kraken succeeded in obtaining the first Special Purpose Depository Institution (SPDI) license in the state of Wyoming, making it the first crypto exchange with a banking license in the United States.
The platform also holds ISO/IEC 27001:2013 and SOC 2, Type I security certifications.

Fees at Kraken exchange
Kraken uses a maker-taker fee system where trading fees are calculated based on your 30-day trading volume. Spot trading fees start at 0.25% and decrease to 0% as trading volume increases; for high-volume traders exceeding $10 million, Kraken even offers maker rebates (negative fees). Futures fees also start at 0.02% and drop to -0.006% for makers.
Deposit and withdrawal costs vary depending on the payment method and selected currency, with bank methods typically being free or low-fee, while instant methods like bank cards carry higher fees (approximately 3.75%).
Trading Fees on Kraken Exchange
The Instant Buy/Sell fee is a flat 1%. Kraken+ members have fee-free trading up to $10,000 per month. Stablecoins and fiat currency pairs have the same Maker/Taker fees (ranging from 0.20% to 0.001%).
Deposit and Withdrawal Terms on Kraken Exchange
Withdrawals made after purchases via ACH Plaid are restricted for 7 days, and purchases made via card or PayPal are restricted for 72 hours. Additionally, Kraken Pay enables free transfers between Kraken accounts.
