Settings by trading style

StyleSettingNote
Scalping5 to 9 with levels 80/20Fast, with more false signals
Daily9 to 14 with levels 70/30A balance of speed and accuracy
Swing14 to 21 with levels 70/30Calmer, suits the daily timeframe

Main signals

  • Moving back above 30 from the oversold zone
  • Moving back below 70 from the overbought zone
  • Crossing the 50 line to confirm direction
  • Divergence: a higher price high with a lower RSI high

Common mistakes

  • Selling just because RSI is above 70; in a strong trend RSI stays high for a long time
  • Ignoring the trend direction on a higher timeframe
  • Changing the period until the past chart looks «perfect»
